Automated Sorting Equipment -The RAPTOR has landed!
The cutting-edge automated sorting equipment for recycling has been successfully installed!
On November 26th, the installation of the RAPTOR (Refractory Automated Precision Technology for Optimized Recovery) was successfully completed at RHI Magnesita Mireco’s recycling plant in Mitterdorf, Austria. This marks a significant step forward in automation and sensor-based sorting for spent refractories.
The RAPTOR is capable of economically sorting particles down to just 16 mm, setting new industry standards. With its cutting-edge LIBS (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) sensor and HSI (Hyperspectral Imaging) camera, this system enables highly robust and precise classification.
Demonstrating a true pioneering spirit, the team overcame Mitterdorf’s challenging November weather conditions to successfully complete the mechanical and electrical setup. With this critical milestone achieved, the initial test of the process units is underway. The arrival of the RAPTOR signifies more than just a technical achievement. It is proof that teamwork and determination can achieve anything, even in sub-zero conditions.
As the project progresses, the team remains focused on refining and fully unlocking the RAPTOR’S potential. Stay tuned for the next steps in this exciting journey!
